"Difficult times have helped me to understand
better than before, how infinitely rich and beautiful
life is in every way, and that so many things that
one goes worrying about are of no importance
whatsoever."

-Isak Dinesen

I became a dog trainer while attempting to
solve the problems I was having with one
very special dog. It was so hard to find the
kind of help I was looking for. Eventually, I
became my own source of help and
hopefully have helped many others. My old
lab Charli is still teaching me new things
everyday.

About us
Certifications

There is no legal certification for dog trainers;
meaning that anyone can call themselves a dog
trainer,  dog whisperer, dog listener behaviorist.
Many organizations provide certification.

The Certification Council for Pet Dog Trainers
(CCPDT) is the most internationally known
testing and certification program for
professional pet dog trainers.
The Animal Behavior College provides a very
comprehensive program for new people to get
started as a dog trainer.
Methods

The best training is done with rewards. It includes
socialization to build in confidence. It is influenced
significantly by genetics as well as experiences before the
age of 16 week.

Here’s the basic principle or reason MOST dogs do what
they do. REWARDS and LEADERSHIP! Dogs follow the
leader’s commands. The commander i.e. person who
commands (not demands) respect. If he has no respect for
you, you will not be able to teach him much and never know
when he will listen. Respect is gained through the training
process and raising process.
"Sometimes I wander if I would have attempted it, knowing how
hard it was to be, and yet the hard things have made me who I
am, so I am glad for them." -Kate

"God made the world round so we would never be able to see too
far down the road."
-Isak Dinesen
ABOUT THE TRAINER
Kate L Huver
K-9 K8

Hi, I work for UPS Monday through Friday and teach dog
training classes when I can. Teaching and training is my
passion, not a job.

I have been a student of animal psychology for many
years, spent some incredible years as a vollunteer tour
guide and educator ZooMontana, Dog trainer and many
other jobs at PetsMart, worked at various vet clinics,
Montana Fish Wildlife and Parks, and spent many years
showing, training, and competing with dogs.

My full-time job keeps me working in Worland and
Thermoplis throughout the year. Occationally I work in Ten
Sleep and have worked all over Wyoming. I am also a
trainer for the Thermopolis 4-H dog club.

I Was certified at a PETsMART training school in Spokane
WA. The program was developed by the top dog trainers
and behaviorists; including Suzanne Hetts, Trish King,
Mary Lee Nitschke, Pam Reid, Terry Ryan, and Pia Silvani.

Kate has assisted in the training of other dog trainers for
PETsMART and the Animal Behavior College(ABC).

After 12 years working with dogs, including teaching
classes, rescue work, 8 years of competing in AKC and
UKC dog sports, and 4 years of working with 4-H kids and
dogs she has decided to use her dog training skills for
something even greater.

Currently Kate is working with her Belgian Tervurens on
training for Search and Rescue. Turk, the 10 year old
stated tracking at 4months old. He has 5 AKC
tittles/certificates in Obedience and Rally, with 15 points in
conformation and a CGC certificate, and two agility tittles
from UKC. The younger tervuren Gusteau is nearly an AKC
champion and is also working on tracking, agility and
Rally-O. He loves obedience.

Besides the 4 dogs, Kate has some horses and a goat.
